Life goes on 🚶‍♂️

It has been a very difficult and traumatizing two weeks. On October 16, 2021, Saturday — my mom and dad had a bike accident at Chovar while returning back home from Phraping (my Mamaghar) after putting Dashain tika. A drunk man hit my dad’s motorbike with his car while overtaking, making dad’s motorbike uncontrollable which lead to my mom falling in the road by her head causing a serious head injury.

Drafting this article on the date October 28/29, 2021, from the hospital room of ‘Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute Of Neurological And Allied Sciences’, sitting by the side of my mom and writing what I feel reflecting back because I have to clear my mind to move on, cuz life goes on.

Dashain

We were having one of the best Dashain; with all the family gatherings and puja. Little hectic but more enthusiastic, Dashain was all fun. Foods, puja, tika, alcohol, cards & more. And after quite a gap, this year all our family members decided to visit Mamaghar for the tika.

An Accident

Then comes a twist in our happy story, a drunk man hit Dad’s motorbike on October 16, 2021.

Seeing Mom

It’s hard to see your loved one unconscious but it’s very very difficult to see them in consciousness but with pain. After we received news of the accident, we rushed to “Vayodha Hospitals” where she was kept for two days. She was unconscious with blood coming from her right ear. But as that consciousness came back, seeing and meeting her was more difficult, because we can feel the pain in her voice and face.

Hospital Stay

My experience at the hospital was always bad and considering past experience, I was already mentally prepared for the worst. But this stay at the hospital was a bit different, in all those long stays rather than being irritated and angry; this time I was hopeful because somewhere inside my head and heart, I know my mom was recovering, slowly & steadily in the hospital room.

Current Condition

Thanks to both “science and god” head surgery were not necessary. The doctor says the chunk of blood that is filled in the head will slowly dissolve back to normal condition with medicine but the full recovery might take quite some time. Unfortunately, she lost her hearing capacity from her right ear. Currently, she has been discharged, taking medicine and resting at HOME.

What’s Next

‘Life goes on’ — maybe as the day progress we might forget this traumatizing phase of our life and move on recollecting ourselves but these two weeks has taught two decades of learning for me personally. Deep inside sometimes I feel scared; I might never be the same guy again.
